Just want to start by saying thank you! This trip allowed me to travel with my friends, my best friend and people whom I didn’t know who became my friends along the way. Our tour guide was Cuong who was so knowledgeable, super funny and friendly. I got quite sick and he did everything in his power to ensure I was okay. Everywhere we went was so beautiful and the people are all so lovely and smiley! For the first time travelling without my mum, Cuong was so willing to go the extra mile to make sure I was happy and enjoying myself, and I have to say it was the best and most life changing experience of my life so far.
We went to a local orphanage just outside Saigon and it was a definite eye opener. We took toys, books and other things for the children as gifts. We were able to interact and help with the children. At first I was teary because I believed this was such a cruel life they must live, but then looked at it from a different perspective and realized how lucky these kids were that they had a home and a family. People to love them and give them a bed and food. These kids were much luckier than others and they were all happy, all of them! Once our time there was up I didn’t want to leave, or I did as long as I was able to take them all with me, they were so beautiful.
Also the Long Tan war memorial was such an honor. We laid a wreath to pay our respects to all lives lost and lives people are still living from the War on the 50th year anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
So again, a massive thank you to Vietnam School Tours - everyone within the company that enabled us to go on this trip, Cuong, our bus boys and everyone in between! I loved it and would definitely go back!
